A rare first person account by Army Surgeon, Dr. Charles Leale detailing the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theater on the night of April 14, 1865. Dr. Leale was the first medical doctor to reach the President that night and was by his side throughout the night and the next morning at his death on April 15th. This short but gripping account gives insight into that horrendous night and the following day. This is a transcribed speech Dr. Leale delivered in February 1909.
